Your skin is a living, breathing organ. It is not just a mere shell covering the rest of the body. It is connected to every other organ systems. TCM goes in more specifically to say that our skin is a family system that is link to our lungs, large intestine and the nose.

In TCM, Eczema is called “Damp Dermatitis.”
We see certain individuals that are born with weak constitution of the spleen energy. One of the important functions of the spleen is fluid distribution. You may think of spleen as the water pump of the body, When the water or the fluids are not distributed properly, a stagnant pool forms somewhere in the body. This stagnation creates pressure and eventually creates toxic heat that the body tries to eliminate.
Too often, the body will use the skin to expel the toxic heat out of the body. Herbal medicine could be used to drain the toxic heat safely out of the body and begin the heal process.
It could also be used to strengthen the spleen energy to better distribute water throughout the body to prevent this problem from returning.

Although there are many different root causes for Acne in the view of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the predominant cause would be “damp-heat” accumulation. Over consumption of refined sugar along with greasy vegetable oils and dairy lead to damp energy accumulation.
When this accumulated damp energy is coupled with someone’s naturally fiery constitution, it creates pressure that the body feels the need to release. It could be compared with magma pressure building up from under the earth’s surface before it explodes in to a volcanic eruption. Through dietary counseling and the use of herbal medicine to cool heat and drain out damp energy, we could begin to heal the skin.
I also deploy micro-needling to treat the remaining hyperpigmentation and scars in the post recovery stage.

Heat, heat, heat!!!
I could describe someone suffering from psoriasis as someone with a nuclear power plant that’s generating more heat than what’s considered to be healthy. This intense heat evaporates the moisture around the lesions where the heat is vent out. This loss of moisture leads to increased and expedited formation of dead skin cell layer: the classic flaking symptom of psoriasis.
Herbal medicine taken orally (decoction) is used to cool the nuclear power plant to moderate the heat generation level. Herbal bathing solutions are also used to speed up the healing process by attacking the issue from outside.

Acupuncture and deep tissue massage of certain muscles of the face could help to promote collagen production and diminish the appearance of fine wrinkles. This is a natural and effective substitute for Botox for those who are considering different options for facial rejuvenation.
Micro-needling service is also offered in our office for treating pigmentation issues, scars and inflammation.

Abrupt occurrence of hair loss and hair thinning could shock you. It could be emotionally devastating as well. In many instances, it’s the reduction in blood and Qi (energy) flow to the scalp that leads to weakening of hair follicles.
Acupuncture and scalp massage could reverse the effects of stress that results in premature reduction of blood and Qi flow to the hair roots. This ensures that new hair grows out thicker and healthier.
In severe cases, micro-needling along with hair growth boosting serums could be used to promote hair growth.
